About the Founder
Hello!Ruthie Bekker, M.S., BCBA
Ruthie Bekker is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and the founder of Gateway Learning. Her work focuses on helping learners, families, and clinicians access meaningful progress by first identifying and protecting the conditions that make learning possible. She has worked in the field of applied behavior analysis since earning her Master of Science in Behavior Analysis from the University of North Texas in 2005.
Throughout her career, Ruthie has supported learners across a wide range of service environments while also mentoring developing clinicians in the field. Her approach emphasizes thoughtful assessment, compassionate care, and careful attention to the learning environments that shape each individual’s experience.
Over time, Ruthie began to notice a pattern that would shape her clinical philosophy: when progress slowed or stalled, it was often not because learners lacked ability, but because the conditions necessary for learning had been disrupted or overlooked. This observation became the foundation for the Gateway Learning framework.
Gateway Learning centers on the idea that before learning can accelerate, it must first be protected. By identifying the “gateways” that support attention, regulation, participation, and trust, clinicians can create environments where learners are able to move forward safely and sustainably.
In addition to her clinical work, Ruthie is deeply committed to supporting the development of other clinicians through supervision, consultation, and training. Her goal is to help practitioners strengthen both the technical and reflective skills needed to navigate complex learning systems while maintaining compassion for the individuals they serve.
Ruthie founded Gateway Learning as a space for clinicians and families who believe that meaningful progress begins with protecting the conditions that allow learning to occur.
