A life long commitment to learning

Along my professional journey, I've had the privilege of watching people learn, not only by teaching new skills, but by learning to recognize the conditions that allow meaningful learning to emerge across homes, schools, clinics, and communities . This philosophy did not come from a textbook. It emerged over thousands of hours sitting beside children, listening to families, mentoring clinicians, and paying attention to the small moments when learning quietly appeared. Those moments changed the questions I began asking—and ultimately became the foundation for Gateway Learning. Today, that philosophy guides my work with families, homeschool communities, clinicians, and future behavior analysts who share a commitment to thoughtful, learner-centered practice.

For over 25 years, I've worked alongside children, families, registered behavior technicians, aspiring behavior analysts, educators, and clinical teams—including serving in clinical leadership roles. These experiences continue to shape Gateway Learning's emphasis on thoughtful observation, environmental readiness, meaningful participation, and collaborative partnerships across settings.

What practice has taught me :

• Learning happens in relationships

• Behavior is understood best in context

• Learners, and the environments around them, need to be carefully observed before change occurs

• Progress depends on protecting the conditions that allow learning to continue

• Families, educators, and clinicians grow best when they learn alongside the learner.
